National Team Camp

The club continues to be recognized as Houston's #1 club for developing female elite players to be selected for their respective national team events, including games, camps & virtual meetings. The club has developed 42 players that have been selected for their respective national teams since 2006. Congratulations to the latest two players that were selected in January for the following events from the Houston Dash Academy 2007 age group:

  • Jasmine Diaz, El Salvador U20 Women's National Team Camp (January 14-19).
  • Sophia Saludares, Philippines U17 Women's National Camp (January 20-22).

The club is proud of these two players and cannot wait to see how Jasmine and Sophia will continue to advance in their development.  Dash Academy is excited to cheer them on through this next journey and see all that they will accomplish.

"It's extremely rewarding to see Jasmine and Sophia being selected and recognized for their hard work," said Dave Dengerink, Academy Director. "We continue to provide a very competitive training and game day environment along with first-class facilities for our elite players to excel, be challenged, and potentially get selected for their respective national team events."

Jasmine and Sophia are excited about this opportunity and thankful to the club for helping them get there.

"I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to be part of the El Salvador Women's National U17 team but even more grateful to try out with the U20 group," said Jasmine Diaz, Dash Academy 2007. "It has truly been a challenging week here and I have trained with girls from all over the US and Canada. I am so grateful for the support of my parents and coaches because I couldn’t have done it without them. Thanks also to my club and the coaching staff for everything they have provided and for always believing in me."

"I am grateful to have been given the chance to try out for the U17 Philippines Women’s National Team in California.  In just 3 days, I was introduced to a new formation, and a highly respected coaching staff, and truly enjoyed playing in a competitive environment against and with such talented players.  It was an exceptional experience," said Sophia Saludares, Dash Academy 2007.  "The Houston Dynamo | Dash coaching staff has been essential in preparation for the tryouts and my development throughout the past few years. Thank you!  Salamat! Gracias!”

5v5 Thanksgiving Classic Logo 9-7-21NoDate

The club hosted their 5th annual 5v5 Thanksgiving Classic brought to you by DICK'S Sporting Goods at Cris Quinn Memorial Soccer Complex, Beaumont, TX on January 7, 2023. The event included over 750 boys and girls, from the ages of U7 - U19 with 3,000 spectators in attendance. It was an enjoyable action-packed Saturday for all the teams that traveled in from the surrounding areas.  One hundred and seventy five games were hosted for the hundred teams that participated. This is the only small sided tournament offered in the golden triangle area that hosts teams between Louisiana, Houston and Lufkin. The event was rescheduled from November due to poor weather conditions.

"We created this event as there was a need for a quality small sided tournament for the local area. This year saw new teams coming further distances to be part of a really fun, exciting event." said Thomas Shenton, 5v5 Tournament Director. "It was a tremendous tournament to start the new year off and we look forward to hosting and expanding this again in November."

"DICK'S Sporting Goods partnership is a perfect fit for our entire membership who participate in multiple sports and outdoor community activities." said Simon Boddison, DDY Director of Soccer Operations. "The ability to order online or purchase in-store at a discount will benefit our families all around the city including Beaumont. DICK'S Sporting Goods has a wide collection of sports equipment with first class customer service, and we look forward to continuing this valued partnership."

“We are happy to support Dynamo | Dash Youth Soccer Club through this partnership,” said Aaron Pisk, the Houston Community Marketing Manager at DICK’S. “We are passionate about assisting young athletes and their families as they gear up for their upcoming seasons and outdoor activities.”

Benjamin Cross - Dynamo West 2011 PA I

Posted on November 19, 2022 BY Simon Boddison

Ben Cross-1

The club is extremely excited to announce that 10-year-old Benjamin Cross departed from Texas Children’s Hospital after completing multiple rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant provided by his older brother Noah to cure acute myeloid leukemia! While most kids his age were enjoying the summer fun, Ben began his first round of chemotherapy on July 14th. He then battled for nearly four months and was released on November 5th. Even during the toughest time of his life, the love for soccer never left Ben. During his stay, former Dynamo player Tim Parker made a special visit to bring his spirits up.

Ben is in remission, and the club would like to extend their thoughts and prayers for Benjamin and his family, wishing him all the best for a full recovery.

"When describing our club and what our core values are, there is no better player who embodies every single core value that we have than Ben Cross. He’s a person that works hard every single day and fights until the very end. His compassion for others and his teammates is unmatched, and he is always willing to put others before himself. There was rarely a day where you would see Ben without a smile on his face doing what he loved," said Jason Olvera, Director of Coaching - Youth Academy. "These last few months, Ben has shown courage like no other with constant battles in the hospital and new obstacles to overcome. He continued to persevere and has made it out on the other side. And for that, we are all so grateful and ecstatic to welcome him home, where he can be surrounded by loved ones on his road to recovery. Ben has been an example of what it means to fight even when odds are stacked against you. He’s as strong as a cross."

Ben is a true example of what it means to be a member of the Dynamo | Dash family. His positive attitude and passion for the sport inspires many on and off the field.

"It's fantastic news that Benjamin was released from the hospital and is slowly making a recovery at home," said Radojica Ristic, West Director. "Benjamin is very much part of our Dynamo | Dash family, and we cannot wait to welcome him and his family back to the fields when the time is right."

Keep Ben in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his road to recovery. Ben is a son, a friend, and a young person filled with compassion. Please consider visiting https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/benjamincross to learn more.
